The business model of Multi-level marketing has been around for a while and works pretty well for the most part. However, the similar yet illegal business model of a ‘pyramid scheme’ is often disguised as multilevel marketing. You’ve probably received an invitation to one before by a message from an old friend from high school that starts off like “Hey girl, it’s been too long! I have come across this great way to make money quick while working from home and thought of you. Would you like to know more?”
This can put you in a sticky situation since you most likely want to say no, but you also don’t want to ruin your relationship with this long lost friend. I recently shared her advice on how to politely say “no” to these sorts of invitations with Huffington Post.
Folks who are involved in multi-level marketing are always looking for a means to circumvent your reasoning. So if you say, ‘I don’t have enough time,’ they’re going to try to help you figure out how to have enough time. Tell them ‘no,’ give them your very short reason why, and then move on.
